NEW FACULTY SUCCESS WORKSHOPS

We provide workshops designed to address the core dilemmas facing faculty of color. The workshops are ideal for advanced graduate students or new tenure-track faculty of color. In each of the following half-day (2.5 hour) workshops, we teach concrete strategies to help individuals make the transition from graduate student to professor:

  • Get on the Write Path: How to Create the Support, Community, and Structure You Need to Be Successful
  • Solo Success: How to Move From Surviving to Thriving in Academia When You're the Only ______ in Your Department.

HOW TO WIN TENURE WITHOUT LOSING YOUR SOUL

This day-long workshop and community building opportunity explores the core dynamics that shape the tenure process for faculty of color. We address the nuts and bolts of how to successfully win tenure and how to do so without losing your soul in the process. Relying on the latest faculty development research, participants are equipped with a vast array of concrete strategies for balancing issues of spirit and survival. Our How to Win Tenure Without Losing Your Soul workshop ends with the formation of writing support and accountability groups to keep faculty connected long after the workshop is completed.

 

FACULTY MENTORING PROGRAM

We also work with instiutions to create a customized Faculty Mentoring Program consisting of a package of four New Faculty Success workshops, online mentoring support, and individual faculty coaching. This is a turnkey solution for colleges and universities that want to start their own mentoring program for under-represented faculty, but prefer to outsource the first year.
